Itasca's historical district, often well-lit until midnight with a combination of restaurant and tavern signs and street lights, could be significantly darker when the spring and summer months return.
To the dismay of several local business owners, the village board Tuesday unanimously set in place a six-month moratorium on the use or display of new neon signs in the historic district. Between today and May 21, 2002, no new neon signs will be allowed to hang in the windows of any establishment within the historic district, but business owners will be allowed to keep the signs currently hanging.
