SHE is over 40 years old, American and likely to end up in thousands of British Christmas stockings this year.
Barbie is a doll and in a recent poll of toy-sellers, was placed in the top ten toy list for this Christmas.
It is an amazing feat for a toy first introduced in March, 1959, but this year Barbie has a secret weapon. She has become a ballet dancer.
A video has been released of Barbie in The Nutcracker in which the doll acts out the story made famous by Tchaikovsky's ballet. There is, of course, a Barbie in The Nutcracker doll to accompany it.
