ABIX via COMTEX) -- Australian state and federal health and fair trading ministers will discuss smoking prevention in early 2001. A major topic for discussion will be new cigarette packet warnings designed to dissuade smoking by showing diseased organs. A united push for greater anti-smoking education for young people will also be on the agenda. The talks come as a Queensland lung cancer victim warns that existing anti-smoking efforts are not enough. Byron Bay mother, Esther Schreurs, started smoking at 17 before there were warning labels. She says governments have failed to protect her and thousands like her.
