It's make-or-break time for Iran at South Pars. Citing perpetual delays, industry sources have called into question Iran's ability to deliver on its giant gas project -- which aims to develop 1 billion cubic feet per day (10.3 billion cubic meters per year) of gas and 40,000 barrels per day of condensate over each of its 12 phases, at a cost of around $1 billion per phase.
Some say that the huge project was rushed in an attempt to keep up with Qatar's plans to develop its North Field, an extension of South Pars. While struggling with South Pars, Iran has watched the list of North Field gas projects grow long and longer still.
