There is no doubt that this tale of two countries began in the corridors of the United Nations. Initially, it manifested itself as a feeling of warmth between representatives of countries so strikingly different and geographically distant one from the other, yet united in their goal during the late 1960s of making a better world. At the same time, that affection came to be based on personal bonds, a sort of awakening admiration of each for the other.
