In Laos, a Hmong New Year celebration lasted more than a week and featured cockfights, spin-top games played barefoot in the dirt and revelers in colorful Hmong garb.
The Minnesota version that began Friday and continues through the weekend in St. Paul is held indoors, and features men in suits, vendors selling their wares and beauty pageants for young women.
