As a consequence of incomplete resolution of embryologic mammary ridges, ectopic breast tissue can be present anywhere along the "milk line," including the axillary region and vulva. This tissue is subject to the same hormonal influences as the normal breast and can develop proliferative changes as well as carcinoma. Most mammary carcinomas arising in ectopic breast tissue have been ductal, although other types, such as medullary, papillary, and lobular carcinomas, have been described. This case report describes invasive secretory (juvenile) adenocarcinoma, which to our knowledge has not been previously reported in this clinical setting.
