This curious recording, like the curious old instrument whose music it contains, would be nothing more than a novelty if it weren't for one thing: some little-known, but great, music of Mozart.
The glass harmonica, a popular instrument during the late 18th and early 19th centuries, was perfected by American founding father Benjamin Franklin. Its sounding body is a group of tuned glasses that are moistened and rubbed with the fingertips to produce tones.
