Jail was ordered for a Lake Mills man who killed a longtime Deerfield postal worker in a traffic crash last year.
Kent Wildes, 29, was sentenced Tuesday to 14 years of probation for causing the crash that killed Marian Osterlie, 63, a 40-year employee of the Deerfield post office and the wife of former village president Donovan Osterlie.
As a condition of his probation, Wildes will also spend a year in the Dane County Jail, with work-release privileges. He had asked to begin his jail sentence Jan. 7, but Circuit Judge Angela Bartell ordered him to report Dec. 12 so that he is in jail for Christmas.
