Declaring identity theft "America's fastest-growing crime," U.S. Sen. Maria Cantwell said yesterday she'll introduce a bill to help victims recover their good names.
The Washington Democrat said the bill aims to nationalize identity theft legislation proposed by state Attorney General Christine Gregoire and passed earlier this year by the Legislature.
Gregoire said federal legislation is "badly needed" because identity thieves often steal an identity in one state but use it in other states.
