2001 DEC 3 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- Researchers think they now know why systemic lupus erythematosus (lupus) attacks the nervous system, according to a new report in Nature Medicine.
Lupus is a disorder of the immune system in which the body produces antibodies that attack its own tissue - an autoimmune disease. The antibodies attack different parts of the cell, such as the DNA. The disorder can affect many parts of the body such as the joints, skin, kidneys, lungs, heart and blood vessels.
