Glucosamine sulfate is a popular supplement for arthritis and other inflammation. But what do studies show about its effectiveness? More than 200 patients with arthritis were given 1,500 mg of glucosamine sulfate for three years. The joint space in their knees was measured at the beginning and end of the study, and there was no deterioration during that period of time. In addition, all of the patients in the study experienced less pain.
