December will be a good time for movie buffs at the Gene Siskel Film Center. It presents "America in AltmanScope" (a tribute to Robert Altman), a retrospective of popular Indian filmmaker Guru Dutt, several bluegrass movies plus a series of restored silent classics by Fritz Lang.
Starting today through Dec. 29, the Film Center delivers one big mash note to iconoclastic filmmaker Robert Altman, the maverick artist, who actually hits something interesting once every three or four films.
