THE childminder accused of shaking a baby boy to death broke down yesterday as a tape of her 'heartrending' phone call to emergency services was played to a jury.
Linda Bayfield, 54, slumped forward with her head in her hands and sobbed as the Old Bailey listened to her screams as eight-month-old Joshua Osborne gasped for breath in the background.
As the 15-minute tape ended Bayfield, who had looked after children for 25 years, continued to weep loudly.
Joshua's parents Elizabeth and Kenneth Osborne - whose son died six days after the incident - were in court but left before the tape was played.
