My work is the abstraction and interpretation of stone, sky, fire and water I am fascinated with the play of light and shadow occurring as fog descends or dissipates in the sunlight. "Chiaroscuro" was inspired by the lonely and mysterious fog-enveloped marshes of Pescadero and Point Reyes, California.
The current work explores a form of arashi shibori that utilizes discharging, or removing color from the silk. I intricately pleat small panels of black silk and secure the pre-pleated silk to clear glass wine bottles with fine thread. The bottles are submerged in ...
