Pathogen combinations in upscale production systems have complicated the task of controlling respiratory disease. At the center of porcine respiratory disease complex (PRDC) is Mycoplasma pneumonia, said Dr. Paul Yeske of the Swine Vet Center in St. Peter, Minn.
Vaccine usage has proliferated relative to pig flow dynamics, but timing and management methods must be evaluated in the context of immunization programs, Yeske said at the Leman Swine Conference Sept. 17 in Minneapolis, Minn.
