If you are joining the Christmas plant hunt this month then don't let the glitter and tinsel in the garden centre blind your gardening instincts.
Christmas plants are like any other we buy. Look for plants which have been well grown, are in good condition and, in the case of flowering displays, have plenty of blooms in the tank.
It is all to easy to buy an azalea or cyclamen with the foliage hidden by blooms only to find that the display is over long before Santa has slung his sack down the central heating flue.
