Democrat William L. Catto of Auburn has yet to take his seat on the Cayuga County Legislature, but he apparently holds the trump card on who will be his party's next minority leader.
Auburn Democrat Jerry Secaur, the current minority leader, said Thursday he will support Jeffrey Q. Blauvelt's bid to take the position in 2002.
However, veteran lawmaker Michael Lepak, D-Auburn, said he would oppose Blauvelt's nomination and will not support reappointing Secaur. He said he will nominate Catto for the position.
