Dec. 4, 2001--Standard & Poor's today announced updated public information-based ('pi') ratings on nine German life insurers. At the same time, Standard & Poor's also assigned 'Not rated' ratings to a further two German life insurers. (See list below for all ratings affected.)

Gothaer Lebensversicherung AG and ASSTEL Lebensversicherung AG were assessed for the first time, and were assigned 'Not rated' ratings.
