Four years on, the first Thematic Network on rubber compounding has reached the end of its first incarnation. On 1 Sept 1997, eighteen participants got together to examine the problems and issues associated with health, safety and the environment as related to rubber compounding.
On 26 and 27 Sept, 2001, the partners got together for a last time to report on their efforts, and show some of the results to the public.
According to project coordinator, Dr Alan Roberts of TARRC in the UK, the network "does not carry out its own research. The whole point of the network is to exchange information ... to avoid duplication of effort."
