DC's UNION STATION MALL ON FAST TRACK
WASHINGTON (FNS) -- In its first year as a rail station doubling as a shopping mall, historic Union Station has become a lucrative location for retailers, who report sales greater than in the average urban retail complex.
Once a candidate for demolition, the 80-year-old Union Station was refurbished for $160 million and reopened last fall. The station houses about 100 specialty retailers, including The Limited, Cignal and Ann Taylor; a movie theater; five restaurants, and a food court of more than 25 eateries.
