NEW YORK -- Retailers placed more ads for Whirlpool and Kenmore washers and dryers than for any other brand in those categories during August, an ongoing survey revealed.
Whirlpool took the lead in dryers, garnering 23 percent of the ads for that product, while Kenmore was a step behind with 22 percent. For dryers, the positions were reversed.
The ads are placed by retailers in more than 100 daily and weekend newspapers around the country, as well as in fliers.
Kenmore came in second in both freezers and microwave ovens after Frigidaire and Sharp, respectively.
The highest average price for advertised dryers was Maytag's $570. The ...
