ATLANTA -- There are some bright spots for apparel contractors.
Depending on a company's product and willingness to diversify, opportunities do exist in this struggling industry that has been hard hit by free-trade policies and demands for low-cost production.
Some contractors are doing quite well this year, while others are just trying to keep their doors open. But the two apparel contractor associations, SEAMS and the American Apparel Producers Network (AAPN), agree that success depends on a contractor's willingness to be open-minded and try new things. That often translates into non-apparel sewn products.
