TOKYO, Nov. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- The Singapore Soka Association , a constituent organization of the international lay Buddhist group Soka Gakkai International (SGI), has collected S$20,144 (approx. US$11,000) to aid the growing number of Afghan refugees, many of whom are now facing a harsh struggle to survive as the winter approaches. The collection was organized in response to a request from Singapore Red Cross for donations to provide humanitarian relief to refugees fleeing the fighting in Afghanistan. The money will be presented to the International Federation of Red Cross and other relief organizations in support of various assistance programs.
