IN A RECENT article, I mentioned that many bulbs dwindle if they are planted where they receive too much summer water. A number of readers have asked for more information about planting bulbs properly, so here's the scoop.
For me, bulb planting used to be kind of frustrating. Each year, I planted lots of bulbs in fall. Each spring, I enjoyed the flowers enormously. However, each summer, something mysterious happened to many of those bulbs. Instead of reappearing faithfully the following spring, many of my bulbs failed to return.
