PROJECT OVERVIEW:

A Peruvian joint venture, led by CEMENTOS LIMA, is currently gearing-up to build what is claimed to be Peru's second largest hydroelectric plant. The other companies involved in the project include CEMENTO ANDINA and ARPL TECNOLOGIA INDUSTRIAL S.A. The planned undertaking, dubbed El Platanal, will involve building a power complex with an installed generating capacity of 270 Mw. The new facility is to be sited south of Lima on the Canete River.

In so doing, the project will also provide irrigation to some 80,730 acres of farmland. And, some 25% of La Platanal's production will be acquired by the partners while the remainder will go ...
