A TECHNOLOGY FIRM FOUNDED BY JACK HOWARD, PROFESSOR OF chemical engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Cambridge), says it is scaling up a patented combustion process that could reduce the cost of fullerenes by 10- to 100-fold. The firm, Nano-C (Westwood, MA), will license the technology to Mitsubishi Chemical affiliate Fullerene International, which plans to build a 1,500-m.t./year fullerenes unit (CW, Sept. 26, p. 23).
