IT'S THE WAR that Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks didn't tell you about - the war in the Pacific.
Hostilities began 60 years ago today when bombs and torpedoes from carrier-based Japanese planes claimed more than 2,300 lives at Pearl Harbor.
In their Oscar-nominated motion picture, ``Saving Private Ryan,'' and their masterful HBO miniseries, ``Band of Brothers,'' Spielberg and Hanks brought into today's pop culture the horrors and glories of a war fought in Europe in the 1940s.
