ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- Alaska is the 10th fastest growing state for women-owned firms, according to a new report from the Center for Women's Business Research. The number of women-owned businesses in Alaska grew by 19% between 1997 and 2002, according to a new report from the Center for Women's Business Research.
"As of 2002, there are an estimated 19,843 majority-owned, privately held women-owned firms in Alaska, accounting for 32% of all privately held firms in the state," said Richard Strutz of Wells Fargo Bank Alaska.
