Elk River schools will go to a four-day week next year, becoming the second Twin Cities suburban school district to make that drastic move in the face of multimillion-dollar budget problems.
The district's action, coming a week after Osseo-area schools approved a four-day week for next year, is another sign of the dramatic belt-tightening sweeping through metro-area school districts, many of which saw requests for excess levies rejected by voters on Nov. 6.
