LOS ANGELES _ The national director of the Jewish Defense League and another member were charged Wednesday with plotting to bomb a Culver City mosque and the office of a Lebanese-American congressman as part of a violent "wake-up call" aimed at Arabs.
Irving David Rubin, the 56-year-old head of the militant organization, and Earl Leslie Krugel, 59, were arrested Tuesday night just after the explosive powder needed to make the bombs was loaded into Krugel's garage, FBI and federal prosecutors said.
