ABIX via COMTEX) -- James Hardie Industries of Australia has purchased $A75 million of fibre cement assets in the US. James Hardie bought the operating assets of Cemplank Incorporated form Belgium's Etex Group, including a manufacturing plant in Pennsylvania with a production capacity of 11.2 million square metres, and another in South Carolina with a capacity of 17.7 million square metres. Shaw Stockbroking research director Scott Marshall said it was a "top" deal that increased James Hardie's capacity in the US by 15 per cent. Cemplank generated $A69.47 million revenue in 2000.
