Dec. 15--An agreement signed recently between the United States and the Cayman Islands to share information that would help Washington track down suspected tax evaders, has come under fire from Manhattan District Attorney, Robert M. Morgenthau.
Dismissing the pact as "a sham", Morgenthau, the chief prosecutor in Manhattan, this week called on the Bush Administration to sever the Cayman Islands' access to the U.S. banking system.
He said that was the only effective way to halt decades of tax evasion and other felonies by Americans who use Cayman Islands' accounts.
