STAR's latest battle with dominant Philippines cable operator, SkyVision's SkyCable, over a fee dispute could break a long-running pattern in the relationship between programmers and operators in the Philippines.
Indications are that the current stand-off will be settled sooner rather than later with executives from both sides discussing proposals and counter-proposals for carriage terms and debt repayments. The new deal is believed to take into account the devaluation of the peso in the past 18 months.
