BANGLADESH: A South Asian consultation has proposed a strategy to fight sexual abuse and exploitation of children in the region.
The strategy aims to stop child prostitution, trafficking of girls and boys for sexual purposes, sex tourism and child pornography in the region, said Waheed Hassan, a UNICEF South Asia official.
Some 150 government officials from Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, and representatives of nongovernmental organizations attended the Nov. 4-6 consultation in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
