A TIME capsule buried more than 150 years ago has been unearthed from beneath a school tennis court.
The glass bottle narrowly missed being destroyed by bulldozers at Belvedere School in Princes Park when a workman spotted it.
Experts at the Liverpool Conservation Centre are now studying the capsule to decide how to open it without damaging the contents.
They believe it could be the oldest capsule discovered on Merseyside.
A spokesman for the centre, in Whitechapel, said: "We were very lucky because it would have been destroyed if one of the building workers hadn't spotted something and saved it.
