MISENHEIMER, N.C. -- Before the game ever started Sunday, Pfeiffer (N.C.) University appeared to be in big trouble against Northern Kentucky University.
Pfeiffer senior guard Tyree Harris - who averages 16.3 points per game - was on the sidelines with an injury, and there was little reason to believe the Falcons would be able to match up against NKU without their best player.
That was before Pfeiffer unleashed junior-college transfer Phillip Hammons - who just became eligible Sunday - on the Norse. Hammons and Rico Grier combined for 44 points as Pfeiffer upset NKU, 97-87, in Merner Gymnasium. Hammons scored 24 ...
