Sweden's parliament is due to debate a new 12-year investment plan for rail. Banverket, the national infrastructure authority, expects stronger support than it has been given under the existing plan.
BANVERKET (BV) believes it will be able to press ahead with a number of key projects thanks to the financial backing provided by a new long-term investment plan for the Swedish national rail network. The bill proposing an ambitious rolling plan for 2004-2015 was due to be presented to parliament towards the end of last month, and it will offer a fresh impetus for BY which has suffered from a lack of funding under the current 1998-2007 plan.
