An estimated 20 million patients in the United States take aspirin for prevention of atherosolerotic and/or thrombotic events. Studies have estimated that the incidence of aspirin resistance ranges from 8% to 45%, leaving 1.6 to 9 million patients susceptible to new or recurrent events.
