HARRISBURG, Pa. -- Gov. Mark Schweiker today honored 40 Pennsylvania companies and organizations from 32 counties for their outstanding achievements in environmental protection at the Governor's Award for Environmental Excellence ceremony held at the Forum Building.
"The winners of the Governor's Award for Environmental Excellence exemplify the connection between protecting our natural resources and creating a better quality of life," Gov. Schweiker said. "Since 1997, a total of 215 winners have reduced wastewater by 5.2 billion gallons, solid waste by 122 million tons and air emissions by 112 million tons.
