Results of an intervention study on prostate cancer patients show that men who consume high amounts of tomato products containing lycopene could slow or prevent the progression of prostate cancer. Lycopene is an antioxidant found in tomatoes and gives them their red color. The results of the intervention study were published in today's issue of the Journal of the National Cancer Institute. (1)
