FEW MAGAZINES IN AMERICA--and no outdoor periodicals--can boast of a 115-year history. SPORTS AFIELD reaches that milestone this year and it owes its success to the hundreds of writers and photographers who have shared their souls with the publication since Claude King launched the title in 1887. To offer some perspective, it was the same year in which another great inventor named Thomas Edison created the phonograph, playing records made of wax.
