UN Committee discusses International Space Year

The Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space at its 1989 session (5-16 June, New York) recommended that the General Assembly endorse the initiative of international scientific organizations and bodies to designate 1992 as International Space Year.

It also recommended that international co-operation be promoted through that Year, for the benefit and in the interests of all States, taking into particular account the needs of developing countries.
