Dec. 21--MACON, Ga.--Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tommy Irvin played Santa Claus on Thursday morning, handing out checks totaling more than $2.6 million to 10 midstate cotton ginners and growers.
An additional $143,800 was mailed to other farmers who could not attend the meeting, held at the State Farmers Market on Eisenhower Parkway in Macon.
"Come up close. Santa Claus is here," said Irvin as he prepared to hand out the fistful of checks.
