Dec. 21--As Massachusetts struggles to cope with thousands of unemployed workers cut loose by an ailing high-tech industry, Rhode Island appears to have dodged the technology rockslide.
But a closer look at unemployment data shows Rhode Island is affected by what is happening in Massachusetts because of the regional economy that exists between the two states.
