A FREE RADIATION RESOURCE KIT from the National Safety Council's Environmental Health Center helps high school teachers educate students about radiation and its risk. Radiation, or energy in the form of particles or waves, such as the light and heat provided by the sun, is essential for life to exist. High energy or ionizing radiation is emitted when the unstable atoms of radioactive materials transition to a stable state.
