The U.S. Department of Agriculture released its forecast of milk prices for 2002 the last week of November. The results of this forecast are presented in Table 1. This forecast assumes a generally weak U.S. economy, milk production growth of 2.7% and growth in demand for dairy products of less than 2% in 2002. The result that is farm-gate milk prices are expected to decline almost $2/cwt. relative to 2001.
