Respect Health Education
What do stem-cell research, HIV, organ and tissue donations, CPR, antibiotic-resistant bacteria, and suicide prevention all have in common? They are all discussed in my health education class. As a public high school health educator for twenty-two years, I have been responsible for helping students to understand and to investigate the myriad health issues present in our world. I can honestly say that I greatly enjoy teaching the subject because it is dynamic and relevant to the lives of my students.
So, why do I feel that when I tell people I am a health teacher, they seem to pause as if waiting for me to tell them what else ...
