High Technology Health Care
John Gardner once said of higher education that it was caught between "unloving critics and uncritical lovers."
I believe much the same applies to the American health care system. There are many blind defenders and there are many deaf critics. But I should like to be a "critical lover" of the American health care system. I admire it a great deal.
My wife had a mastectomy and continues to do well. I am forever grateful to a good doctor and a good hospital. However, as someone interested in public policy, I am appalled at what we spend and how little the improvements in our health we, as a nation, get in return.
