PATIENTS in at least six hospital trusts in Scotland cannot get onto hospital waiting lists despite pleas for urgent treatment.
The scandal was admitted by health chiefs yesterday as ministers were accused of fiddling figures to hide the problems.
Hospitals involved are so short of staff they cannot even give patients an estimate of when they will be treated.
As a result, patients are told they will have to wait before even being given the chance to join the official waiting list.
The issue is a major embarrassment for First Minister Jack McConnell who is understood to be 'furious' over the fiasco. He has ...
